About the Recipe

Made with rolled oats and your choice of milk or water, this warm bowl is hearty, high in fiber, and can be topped with nut butter, fruit, or spices for added nutrition and taste.

Ingredients

Basic Oatmeal:

  • ½ cup rolled oats (Old Fashioned Oats)

  • 1 cup water, or milk*, or non-dairy milk, or combination 

Optional Toppings: (include 1, 2, all or none)

  • 1 tablespoon nut butter (peanut butter or almond butter)

  • ¼ cup of fresh fruit or canned fruit

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Honey, syrup, or sugar

Preparation

  1. Combine 1 cup of your liquid of choice (water, milk/ milk mixture) with the oats in a large microwave-safe bowl. 

  2. Microwave on high for two minutes, checking the oatmeal occasionally so it does not overflow in the microwave.

  3. Cool for a minute or two, add topping, and enjoy!
